2/365 & Peruvian Inspirations

I have a random collection of all kinds of wonders from the sea from my time in Hawaii.
Ring 2/365 ring is based on those little wonders.

I adore the playfulness and the variety these shells naturally boast. The gray base that is holding them up is a glob of sculpty clay.

Seeds & inspiration: My partner is Peruvian; So we have traveled in the country quite a bit. My time in Peru so far has been a spring of inspiration that I have not yet acted on. The history of the gold and the wealth of the country is highly contrasted with the reality that it has now all been looted and removed.

Sadly the gold and monetary wealth that was once there is now only a memory. The wealth is now alive in the culture, which is worth more than any physical material.

We recently traveled to the world renowned ruins of Machu Picchu. It is beautiful and stunning, but I was saddened to hear that the majority of the original artifacts are not there, not even in Peru, but are in the Museum of Yale University. Peru has been fighting the university for almost a century trying to get them back. Article: Peru Sues Yale for artifacts.

My partner said to me "I see Peru as a tooth with a big cavity inside, it looks beautiful, but is only superficial."

Start: Ring a day 1/365

I have been reflecting on the importance of ritual lately. I have been embracing my stable life style and schedule and finding great creative inspiration in it. Thus I am creating daily creative rituals for myself.

I have 10 min each day to conceive and create a ring. I will do this for a year. These will spontaneous and fresh to keep me thinking on my toes. I saw another artists doing this and really got a kick out of it.

With that said- here is 1 of 365. It is created from N50 natural magnets. The strongest magnets you will find.

Sketchbook Reflections

I was looking through my sketchbook today. I always get re-inspired when I do it! I pulled out a couple different books and a some planning sketches from some past custom projects.

I so enjoy the creative process! How the concepts change and grow to fulfill a set of goals and needs...

I love how the lines on a two-dimensional page represent and will possibly become a three dimensional object. Possibilities!

Creative Goals

How exciting! I would like to use this blog as my daily creative diary and as way of processing my creative ideas. I will set small goals for myself and track the progress.

My first goal is to write a blurb here every day.
